Electricity
Clubs no longer receive a separate bill for lines distribution
Clubs now receive a single bill each month from their energy retailer which includes the fixed lines charges.
What can your club do to reduce its Electricity Bill:
- Become energy efficient – look at installing low energy devices, improving building insulation, using better drying room technology and using alternative energy sources.
- The “Lines” component of your bill is determined by peak usage during load control periods during the year. If you maintain you peak demand below 15KVA for all 30 min peak billing periods in the year (typically 4:30pm to 11pm on cold winter evenings when the demand on the network is at its greatest.) you can approach the lines company to put you on a lower fixed rate.
- How do you do this – Switch off unnecessary load during this period – i.e Hot water heating, Drying rooms, Room heating, exterior lighting and cooking elements.
- The lines company sends a signal turning turn off controlled load during a “Peak” load period (ripple control). The club will need to organise an electrician to make changes to the wiring in the club switchboard and circuits to achieve additional load shedding if the control signal is being used to manage peak load.
