The Mountain Clubhouses of Ruapehu
Whakapapa
The alpine lodges of Whakapapa are nestled alongside the Whakapapa ski area and they form what it’s known as Iwikau village, New Zealand’s only alpine ski village.
Explore 550ha of some of the most amazing natural terrain in the country: wide groomed trails and premier beginner facilities in winter welcome first timers, along with huge snow-filled basins, steep chutes & secret powder stash for the more advanced. There is also sightseeing available summer and winter on the 1.8km Sky Waka gondola, with views across the Central Plateau, down to the unique volcanic terrain, with marked walking tracks in summer.
There’s an indescribable enchantment in waking up right on the slopes of this majestic giant (not to mention skipping the hassle of parking on a Saturday morning…).
