Welcome to one of the friendliest clubs on Mt Ruapehu. From the time skiing became popular in New Zealand, Tongariro Ski Club has been renowned for its warmth, comfortable surroundings and welcoming atmosphere. Tongariro is a family Club with excellent ski lodge facilities on both sides of the mountain. The Club currently has over 300 senior members, many of them second or third generation. While many come from Auckland, there is a good representation from all over the North Island. The Club has always welcomed new members, many of whom go on to introduce their own friends to the benefits of membership. The Whakapapa lodge is just 5 minutes walk from the Top of the Bruce car park, and skiable (with snow) to the Rangatira chairlift. This allows one to get out the door, put on the skis or board and head straight for the lifts. Plus the added bonus of being able to ski right to the back door at the end of the day. The lodge occupies perhaps the best site at Whakapapa with panoramic views all around. The Ohakune lodge is also well positioned by the ‘Junction’ at the foot of the mountain. This is in the heart of the restaurant and nightlife area of town. One can drive right to the door on arrival and there is just a 20 minute scenic drive from the lodge to the Turoa Ski field (or a short walk to the shuttle bus). Tongariro Ski Club
